The country’s first commercial artificial football turf is here, specifically in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City, Metro Manila.

E-Sports RK International is the supplier of the artificial turf, and is already available to the interested football enthusiasts. According to Audris Romualdez, the E-Sports executive, “The Azkals and CF Madrid have already tested the field. They love it. There are only three artificial football fields in the country. The only commercial one is this one (Turf@BGC),”

Artificial turf are generally better than natural grass, in terms of ease of use and availability, Romualdez quips, “The players complain with natural grass is that when it rains, it can destroy the pace. It’s easy to shovel rubber granules over unleveled area. With grass, it takes about two to three days to play again. With turf, in 30-40 minutes, you can play again,”

According to Ernest Nierras, “Turf@ BGC is owned and operated by BGC. The PFF will be providing Technical and Administrative support.”

The Rizal Memorial Stadium has witnessed several historical sports events since it opened in 1934.

The stadium was named after Dr. Jose Rizal, the Philippines’ national hero.

The 1954 Asian Games and The Beatles’ 1966 sold out concert was held here.

Another historic event would happen on July 3, 2011. It will be the Philippine national football team’s second leg World Cup Qualifying game against Sri Lanka.

The Azkals became a household name when they beat Vietnam in the AFC Suzuki Cup in December of last year.

For ticket information, this is according to Inquirer.net:

Due to the great demand, TicketNet decided to sell just two tickets per individual. It sold mostly game passes to free-seating areas in Upper Box A (P220), Upper Box B (P95) and General Admission (P55).

Tickets for prime seats at the Patron (P350) and Lower Box (P300) areas were mostly reserved for Ateneo and La Salle.

The FPL will officially start today Sunday September 21, 2008. I will personally be there to watch the first historic game. I will surely bring my Nikon with me. Will put those pics here.

Filipino Premier League is basically a football professional league here in Metro Manila. It has 8 teams. Hope this will be a successful league because a lot of people shall benefit from it.

I myself enjoys watching a football game especially if the team I’m rooting for is playing.

First game would be Army FC versus Pasargad.

The 8 teams are:
1.Army FC
2.Pasargad
3.Arirang (which replaced Air Force) is owned by a Korean, and will probably field all Koreans.
4.Ateneo FC
5.UP Diliman
6.Giligan’s
7.Union FC
8.Mendiola United
